Chrysocolla is a copper ore found in most copper mines, especially those in arid regions. Its color ranges from bright blue to light green and all shades in between. The copper in its chemical structure is what determines the color. It is often multicolored with inclusions or veining of black and brown and sometimes quartz. This veining helps to strengthen the stone.
The name Chrysocolla comes from the Greek words "cyrysos" which means "gold" and the word "kola" which means "glue", and was used in soldering gold.
This was wrapped with 22 gage Argentium wire, which is a tarnish resistant sterling silver alloy that does not contain nickel. Some folks are allergic to nickel so I elected to switch to Argentium in addition to its anti-tarnish properties.
