It's been four months since my accident, and I'm thrilled to share that I've started working in our shop again. I've been walking every day, and my ankle is about 95% back to its pre-accident condition.

Creating Unique Jewelry: A Journey of Discovery

At the end of last year, a friend of ours gifted me a large Larimar circular cabochon. She asked if I could make her a cuff bracelet. Initially, I thought the stone was too large for a bracelet, but I reminded myself that the customer is always right.

I set the stone aside for a while, pondering how to build a structure that would support its beauty while remaining visually appealing. After several attempts, I created a prototype that didn't quite meet my expectations. Eventually, I settled on using 8-gauge half-round wire interspersed with shorter sections. The final piece turned out beautifully, and our friend loved it.

The Magic of Moss Agate

Feeling a bit playful, I chose a quarter moon piece of moss agate from Indonesia for my next project. In our home, I have a time-lapse photograph of the 2017 solar eclipse. Inspired by this, I sketched out a design to replicate that celestial event with the stone. To enhance the piece, I made small copper disks and soldered them to the back plate, representing the phases of an eclipse.

This was the first piece where I combined copper with silver, and I think it turned out quite well. The interplay of colors and materials adds a unique touch that I truly appreciate.

Exploring New Materials

With the price of silver and gold skyrocketing, I'm considering incorporating brass into some of my pieces. This could open up new design possibilities and make my jewelry more accessible to a wider audience. I’m excited to see how this exploration unfolds.
